The Importance of a Blog

The blog is something I deeply care about, and I truly feel skilled in it, able to teach you all the “tricks of the trade.”

You know how much I dislike the words “tricks” and “secrets” when we talk about business.

So, I’ll use “tips,” which sounds more professional to me.

Anyway, the blog is a tool, I dare say, indispensable for any entrepreneur today.

Constant communication is the weapon every business has to increase authority, reputation, and credibility in the eyes of its target market.

“But the blog is outdated, there are much more effective tools today.”

Really?

Well, name one that is easier to use and more effective than the blog.

Email marketing stems from the blog.

Video marketing stems from the blog.

Social media marketing stems from the blog.

You write a blog post and you can adapt it to countless other tools.

The business world is constantly evolving, and successful entrepreneurs know how crucial it is to stay updated on new trends and tools to foster business growth.

But it’s not always necessary to seek novelty to succeed.

The dear old blog is and will always remain an element of absolute effectiveness for businesses and entrepreneurs.

The written word will continue to reign supreme on the Internet for a long time, and in fact, even the world’s most famous companies maintain a daily presence on the blog:

This should be sufficient to convince you of the blog’s importance in your company’s marketing strategy.

In today’s blog post, we’ll explore the technical side of creating a blog, and then we’ll delve into the strategic aspect in future posts.

How Does a Business Blog Work

A blog is exactly what you’re reading right now.

It’s basically a website that hosts a series of articles or content, arranged in reverse chronological order, with the latest at the top.

But let’s go beyond just the concept of a “website”: a blog is an opportunity to voice passions, tell stories, educate, entertain, and even influence.

A mistake made by many entrepreneurs – but we’ll delve into this part when we talk about content marketing, don’t worry – was to write tons and tons of blog posts that only talked about the product or service they were selling.

Why was it wrong?

Because people, when they go online, usually look for two things: entertainment or solutions to problems.

How entertaining or how many problems can reading blog posts listing the features of a product solve?

You understand on your own that this kind of communication can’t work.

But we’ll cover all of this important topic at the right time, I don’t want to confuse you.

I just wanted to give you a general idea.

Let’s continue with the technical aspects and bring our blog to life.

WordPress: The Premier Blogging Platform

How do you technically create a blog?

Where do I write the blog posts?

How do I publish them?

Let’s take it step by step.

When it comes to creating a blog, WordPress is undoubtedly the most recommended platform.

WordPress is a content management system (CMS) that is extremely easy to use and understand, even for beginners with little computer experience.

It’s a platform widely used by bloggers of all levels of experience, from beginners to experts managing complex websites.

To learn how to install it step by step and how to set it up strategically, read the blog post titled How to Start a Blog.”

Content Is King: The Heartbeat of Blogging

“Content is king” is a famous phrase that Bill Gates wrote in a Microsoft blog post back in 1996, during one of Microsoft’s early attempts at blogging (take a look at this piece of internet history before WayBackMachine.com removes it forever).

These words, like almost all spoken or written by entrepreneurs of Bill Gates’ caliber, remain a fundamental principle in the internet world.

Gates predicted, and time has proven him right, that content would become the determining factor for the success of websites and businesses.

Blog posts, guides, reviews, and other content published on a blog are what attract and engage the audience and create authority, credibility, and reputation.

How do you write content that has the characteristics Bill Gates described in his blog post?

I’ll explain everything in detail in this lengthy post: What Is Content Marketing.”
